Dr. Bijaya Mishra

Dr. Bijaya Mishra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Nepal. Her academic and research interests focus on understanding the pathophysiology and diagnosis of inherited metabolic disorders. Her expertise spans clinical biochemistry, biochemical genetics, and metabolic profiling.
A passionate advocate for newborn screening and rare disease care in Nepal, Dr. Mishra actively works to advance awareness, diagnosis, and policy development in these fields. She serves as a Board Member of the Rare Diseases Society Nepal (RDSN) and as an Executive Committee Member of the Nepalese Association for Clinical Chemistry (NACC). She is also a member of the International Society for Neonatal Screening (ISNS) and the Society for Indian Academy of Medical Genetics (SIAMG).
Driven by curiosity and a love for learning, Dr. Mishra continues to contribute to strengthening laboratory medicine. newborn screening and rare disease advocacy in Nepal.
Dr. Jeevan Adhikari

Dr. Jeevan Adhikari, MD (Pathology), is a consultant pathologist with over 10 years of progressive diagnostic experience spanning histopathology, cytopathology, hematology, molecular diagnostics, and genetic testing.
In the initial phase of practice, Dr. Adhikari was primarily involved in routine and advanced Histo-, Cyto-, and Hematopathology, building a strong foundation in morphologic diagnosis. Over time, the focus has evolved toward Molecular Pathology, Genetic Testing, and Specialized Diagnostics, integrating cutting-edge technologies for precision medicine.
In the molecular diagnostics domain, Dr. Adhikari has extensive hands-on expertise in PCR-based testing for infectious diseases, cancer, and non-cancerous conditions. In genetic pathology, work focuses on Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) and Cancer Gene Panel analysis using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), as well as maternal serum screening for chromosomal and abnormalities.
Dr. Adhikari has developed a particular interest in newborn screening, successfully establishing a dedicated laboratory equipped with the Revvity system, currently running seven screening parameters to ensure early detection of metabolic and genetic disorders.
With a blend of traditional pathology skills and modern molecular insight, Dr. Adhikari aims to advance the integration of molecular genetics into routine diagnostic pathology, enhancing accuracy, personalization, and preventive care for patients.

Prajwal Paudel is a Senior Consultant Pediatrician and Assoiate Professor of Pediatrics and Neonatology at National Academy of Medical Sciences, Nepal. He completed his Bachelor’s in Medicine in Nepal and post graduated in Pediatrics and newborn health in 2016 and Pediatric Nutrition in 2018. He has been worked in different Government hospitals as a Pediatrician along with maternal Newborn Health researcher in a research organization in Nepal. He is keen on maternal and newborn health research and has published over 30 articles in different Journals. Currently he is Newborn screening coordinator at PMWH

Dr. Roma Bora is professor in Department of Pediatric, Nepalgunj Medical College. Prof. Bora has 14 years of clinical and teaching experience. At present Prof. Bora is member of medical education committee at Nepalgunj Medical College. She has numbers of national and international publications including the Chapter in NEPAS immunization book.

Dr. Santosh Mishra is the first DM-trained Pediatric Neurologist in Nepal, specializing in pediatric epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders. He is an ICNA 2024 Research Methodology Award recipient and is actively involved in strengthening pediatric neurology services in Nepal.

Dr. Santosh Pradhan is an Assistant Professor in Department of Biochemistry at People’s Dental college and Hospital. He is a consultant biochemist and quality officer at Nepal’s first ISO 15189 accredited laboratory, Samyak Diagnostic in Nepal. With extensive experience in advancing diagnostic services, laboratory quality management, he has been a strong advocate for newborn screening and early detection of metabolic disorders.
Dr. Pradhan is currently serving as a coordinator of Newborn screening committee of Nepalese Association for Clinical chemistry (NACC) and Chief Scientific Officer at Bench to Clinical Research Center.
